RE: Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

There is something really wrong here. Some parts of the country have gas under $2 and it's still OVER $3 here. And don't blame our taxes, they aren't any where near that much. Try the Costco at Airport Blvd & Belle Air Rd, $2.499:)

CO2 kills, enough said. Many a cc-rebreather diver dies each year to CO2 poisoning. Fine one second, convulsing the next..... diesel is 3.299 in bama today!

RE: How slow is unsafe?

ID-55 has very few turnouts from Horseshoe Bend to Cascade though, and LOTS of trafic both ways wanting to do the McCall-Boise run in record time! and many parts of the road are still not 65MPH roadworthy in a MH, or pulling anything.

RE: Crude futures to go under $90 BBL Today

The Speculators just saw that our Congress is not going to do anything that will bring about a bigger supply of crude being pumped in the US. Enjoy the the high cost of today, because in 2 years we will see $7/gal gas. and $10/gal milk. So much for energy independence.........

RE: wash the dishes or paper plates?

Mitxure of everthing with us, though we tend to use our Corelle ware most. I do like the pretty colors in the firepit when we burn our plastics though. ESPECAILLY if someone makea a remark about it just "loud" enough for me to hear, i'll go get the whole package of styro cups, plates, and plastic utensils and burn em! I can't stand enviro whacko's........... No face.., a fas...., whatever, you get my drift.

We are starting to get gas down here in Alabama now, so give it a few days. It's not the Oil companies gouging, it is the distributors........supply and demand, always comes down to that.

RE: I Know, I Know, it's About Walmart

I'm concerned about my "SPECIAL" needs for extra security. What are the crime statistics of Walmart Parking Lots? I do carry my outdoor perimeter securty system, have survailence Cams on all for corners of my Pop-UP, electrified fencing, claymores and my M-60 ready to go. So, what are your experiences at Wallyworld?

RE: Security & crime rates for CG and state parks?

this thread has already shown that most respondents don't care much about security while camping so I am not going to invest the effort. We care about security, but, since we aren't "special", we are not paranoid. Stay at home, locked inside your "perimeter", claymores ready to go, you will be "safe" then.

Well Coyote, you're either a mob boss, VERY WEALTHY, known entertainer/Politician, or you have been victimized your entire life... Since you seem to be getting a TT to travel with, I'll take out VERY WEALTHY...because if I was, a custom Prevost is what I'd be traveling in..... Alarm systems can be installed on ANYTHING. Keeping valuables out of sight tends to keep theives away. AND, let me introduce you to my little friends.... HK USP .40 S&W, Taurus PT140, and Remington 870 Tactical .12 ga. The first one resides in the truck or lazyboy, second one rides an in the pants holster, and the third is for riot control......

RE: Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

Point of order: The Alaska oil pipeline was a Nixon/Ford/Carter thing, started in 1973, finished in 1977. Reagan was governor of CA for a couple of those years, but I'm not seeing the connection between him and the Alaska pipeline. It's always possible I'm just missing something obvious. H_1...you're right. I got Reagan's work on an Natural Gas Pipeline messed up in my head, it's been awhile.....

RE: Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

Granting new Oil Leases within the US WILL lower the price of Oil per barrel damn near overnight. The prospect that we would tap more oil for comsumption would do that to the market. Drill NOW....leases being granted under a new energy plan would need to be Fast Tracked.....protection from frivalious lawsuits from Environmentalists and NIMBY'S would be needed. Same applies to new refineries. Much like what Reagan did in order to get the Alaska pipeline constructed. Leases, that after a 5 year period, not producing Oil would be open for new bids. THis would insure that leasees that ACTUALLY have profitable deposits get pumped. We have plenty of Oil in the US. Let's Pump it. We can do this MUCH faster than 10-20 years as the "No Oil" crowd states. If Oil Companies no not see the need to pump more oil, then they will insure that Wind and other forms of energy replace them sooner rather than later. If Natural Gas(Pickens Plan) is so great an idea, how come we do not see industry leaders building the infrastructure for it? Much like the Hydrogen myth, I won't convert my diesel to Natural gas if I cant drive from here to Alaska and have easy access to fuel. We should also drop ALL subsidies for ALL forms of Power. NIMBY's, sorry, if you don't like the power plant, sell your property. Most plants are not proposed to be right in the center of town anyways. POWER is NEEDED, you can move down the road if you want. If I were King? Clean coal power plants and Nuclear Power Plants would be where the bulk of our Electricity would come from. I'm all for Wind, and Passive Solar, Tidal generators. As other forms of power can compete and make a profit, then they should be embraced and used, but our infractructure is Oil based, and like ot or not, will be until it is replaced with a profitable alternative. I'm all in for all forms of energy. We are COAL rich in this country though, and Coal is cheap.

RE: Concerned about fuel

Prattville, Alabama. Last night I had to go to 5 gas stations to find diesel. Luckily, diesel was ALL they had left. Still managed to pay 3.99/gal, but my wife filled up with gas yesterday, 4.46/gal........ Fuel Supplies running low.... Time to DRILL HERE, Drill now and Build refineries inland of the gulf coast. Anyone ever here of pipelines?

RE: Safety of my Family

In Alaska, we can tell the tourists by the dinner bells worn on the boots! Be aware of your surroundings. Handguns make for POOR defense against bear attacks, whether that be a black or Brown Bear. Try carrying a .45-70 short barreled rifle on a sling if you are really talking protection......Pepper spray? well, a good breeze in your face and you get to be the one crying....and do you really want to be fighting a "Blind" pissed off bear?

RE: Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

GM is gambling their future as well, considering, by there OWN admission, that they don't have the Battery Technology needed for the VOLTS as of right now. Did you catch THAT in the PBS special? I do not know of anyone whom has posted in this thread that has said that Drilling ALONE will solve our energy problem. Most have said to pursue "ALL OF THE ABOVE, but a MINOR few have said, "OIL IS EVIL", "NO OIL", well guess what, Oil is our infustructure NOW, and at least for the next 30 years. Show me John Deere's, or Massy Furgason's Tractor that is "Electric", how about an International Combine that is Electric? Or, an Electric Peterbuilt? BIG QUESTION.... Fezzwiggy....what kind of cars do you own? as for our family, A Chevy Duramax (18-25 mpg) Chevy Venture Van (22-28 mpg) Jeep Wrangler(17-22 mpg) and my Harley(35-45 mpg) I invest in AMERICA when all possible. Besides, we make the best Auto's in the world. You are right though on Globalization of our economy, but Oil is just a part of problem in that regard. We need EQUAL Trade with our trading partners, and nedd to step away from the "globalization" of our economy. It would be better for us, but our trading partners may not like it. Oil is NOT evil, and along with HEAVY NUCLEAR EXPANSION, needs to be part of a new broadbased Energy plan. Excluding those from any plan is just bowing to the "CLean/Carbon Free" crowd. ALL OF THE ABOVE......... As for Europe, I lived there for 4 years (Germany) Trust me, I don't want to drive a Fiat Punto, or a VW polo, deathtraps is what they are. People drive Tiny cars there because Fuel is TAXED 90%....they have to subsidize the Mass transit somehow...They also live 3 generations to a Home. Have VERY HIGH income TAX, the VAT TAX is 16%. Poor Health Insurance(But is's Free! NOT) I think we can look at there system and see what NOT to do.
